Overview

Simu (simu.konsep.com) is konsep's own edtech product: a web platform where Indonesian students learn physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, geography, and IPAS through interactive simulations they run directly in the browser — no lab equipment, no installs.

At launch scale, the platform serves 450+ interactive simulations, 80+ 3D models, 240+ study materials, and 7,840+ practice questions, covering primary through senior high school and aligned with Indonesia's Kurikulum Merdeka.

The challenge

Abstract science concepts — pressure, optics, chemical reactions, planetary motion — are hard to teach with static textbooks, and most Indonesian schools lack laboratory facilities. Existing international simulation platforms are in English and not mapped to the Indonesian curriculum.

We wanted a platform where a student can experiment: change a variable, watch the outcome, and build intuition — in Bahasa Indonesia, mapped to what teachers actually teach.

What we built

  • Simulation engine & library — hundreds of self-contained interactive simulations rendered in the browser, organized by subject, grade level, and curriculum topic.
  • 3D model viewer — anatomical and scientific 3D models for topics where spatial understanding matters.
  • Study materials & question bank — 240+ supporting materials and 7,840+ practice questions across subjects and grade levels.
  • Membership & access tiers — a free tier with 44 simulations after sign-up, and a subscriber tier for full access.
  • AI-assisted content pipeline — an internal, AI-assisted production pipeline to design, build, and QA new simulations at scale.

Built with applied AI

The production pipeline is itself part of the story. Shipping 450+ browser-based simulations — each interactive, curriculum-mapped, and quality-checked — is only feasible because konsep engineered an AI-assisted workflow for authoring and validating interactive content at a pace that would be impractical to build by hand. It is a concrete, in-production example of the applied AI konsep designs for clients: not a demo, but a real product used by students every day.

  • Auth — Auth.js (NextAuth) with cross-domain sessions across the .konsep.com ecosystem
  • Simulations — served from a dedicated sim.konsep.com domain
  • Infrastructure — self-hosted with Docker, fronted by Cloudflare

Outcome

Simu is used by students, teachers, and parents across Indonesia. The platform keeps growing — new simulations every week, a teacher affiliate program, and new ways to learn and assess, including an expanding question bank, multi-user quizzes, and educational games for learning to code.
