Winning the Windows 8 Hackathon in Yogyakarta

The Microsoft Developer Conference 2012: Windows 8 Hackathon invited local developers to build apps on Microsoft platforms — this time, Windows 8 apps. The event ran in Yogyakarta on 16–17 May 2012, 24 hours non-stop, in the Mataram Room at the Sheraton Mustika Hotel.
Open to the public, the hackathon drew PT Konsep Dot Net among the field. Competing against 1,027 other developers, we came away as one of the three winners. The three winning apps stood out for bringing fresh innovation to Windows 8: a snakes-and-ladders game (Ulo Ondo) built by students from Yogyakarta State University (UNY), a Sudoku app built by students from Bandung State Polytechnic (PolBan), and Baby Write Number from PT Konsep Dot Net.
Built for Windows 8, Baby Write Number uses mouse movement (or a finger on a tablet) to help children write numbers, guided by dots they connect. Aimed at toddlers, it proved engaging, informative, and educational — enough to make it one of the winners of the Microsoft Developer Conference 2012: Windows 8 Hackathon.
