Dharma Wanita Persatuan Launches dwp.or.id

Excerpt from a feature in Pikiran Rakyat, 2001.

Members of Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) across Indonesia can now share and exchange information online. DWP's national office is encouraging members — right down to the district level — to take an active part in public discourse by making use of information and communication technology over the internet.

“We'll keep updating articles on law, politics, health, the environment, psychology, social and cultural matters, and other information valuable to members and the wider public,” said DWP Chair Ny. Nila F. Moeloek at the recent launch of www.dwp.or.id, an information-exchange platform, at the DWP national office in Jakarta. The information on the site is meant to connect the wives of civil servants, in keeping with a new face of Dharma Wanita — independent, democratic, politically neutral, and informed.

She noted that outreach is an important way to mobilize the community and, as part of education, a supporting program every organization should have. “With an internet communication site, Dharma Wanita Persatuan's various activities can be shared with all members across Indonesia,” she said.
