“To Be a Blogger” website-development training for the finalists of the School Climate Challenge competition.

konsep.net recognizes its ethical and moral responsibility to society and is committed to adding value to the community around it. On 11 August 2009, as a partner of Indosat M2, we ran a free “To Be a Blogger” training session for the finalists of the School Climate Challenge competition, organized by the British Council. The participants came from SMAN 1 Sukawati (Bali), SMAN 1 Wringinanom (Gresik, East Java), and SMA St. Laurensia (Tangerang), accompanied by their teachers.

The material covered an overview of website engineering and development, internet basics, how to judge whether a website is good or not, and hands-on blog creation. The blog practice was meant to let participants publish their writing online, guided by PT KONSEP DOT NET. According to a participant survey, the response was positive and enthusiastic about the new knowledge they gained. The hope is that they'll be able to share their “go green” ideas on their blogs and promote their findings and research online.

The session ended with a friendly competition for the most engaging blog, drawn from the project ideas the students had competed with earlier. The tutors chose three winners: two blogs from SMA Laurensia and one from SMAN 1 Sukawati.

The eight-hour session ran smoothly and left a strong impression on the participants, who were delighted by how useful it was — especially those who had never used a blog before and could now use one as a place to pour out their aspirations and creative writing.

Our thanks to Indosat M2 for giving us the chance to support talented, motivated Indonesian students eager to expand their knowledge, especially in website development.
